We are looking to move home soon. Is there a way for me to find out which broadband providers operate in my area? I really need a fast provider but I don’t know where to start.
Answer
Broadband Genie offers a postcode search which filters home broadband deals according to the services in your area. So if, for example, Virgin Media cable internet is available this will be displayed alongside the ADSL and fibre optic broadband ISPs.
In addition to listing unbundled ISPs (companies who have installed their own gear in the exchange to get the best ADSL speeds) this will also inform you as to whether Virgin Media cable internet and BT’s fibre optic lines have been installed. These are currently the fastest mass-market services in the UK, so having access to one or both of these is essential if you need the best possible connection.
