Wakefield is a city of roughly 80,000 people situated on the River Calder on the eastern fringes of the Pennines. The Pennines are considered to be one of the most scenic places in England and their close proximity to Wakefield makes the city an attractive place to live – particularly for those who enjoy exploring the great outdoors. Wakefield, however, has a lot to offer in its own right and places of cultural and historical – and even literary – significance excite both locals and visitors. Sandal Castle, constructed in the early 12th century, remains partly intact and the ruins overlook the River Calder. The castle site makes for interesting exploration and it also houses renditions of Shakespeare’s Henry VI as the castle is one of this famous play’s most notable settings. Wakefield clearly has a lot to offer and therefore it is unsurprising that reallymoving.com and our RICS regulated Chartered Surveyors have helped over 700 people relocate to the city in 2016 alone.

Although Wakefield is undoubtedly a beautiful place to live, parts of the city experienced severe flooding and in 2007, 2012 and 2014 floods damaged over 1500 residential properties. Although Wakefield council developed a new Flood Risk Management Strategy in 2016 and the previous flood waters have since receded, property damage from flooding can remain – particularly if a property is managed by an inattentive landlord. Rot, damp and mould can stricken previously flooded properties and can be notoriously expensive to repair. This is one reason that reallymoving.com highly recommends the services of our expert Chartered Surveyors as the will provide you with a Homebuyer Report that will detail any damage your prospective property has suffered.

Whether you want to explore Wakefield Cathedral or relax in one of the cities many parks, our Chartered Surveyors are here to ensure that your move is as cheap and stress-free as possible.
